EHF Development Committee Report (March 2022)

Posted On 10/03/2022

10th March 2022, Brussels, Belgium: The first in-person EHF Development Committee meeting since 2020 was emotional to meet and see old and new faces again in the EHF head Office, Brussels.

An emotive first meeting started with a welcome from committee Chair Peter Elders (EHF Executive Board Member). Whom welcomed Iryna Harchenko from Ukraine Hockey Federation to address the committee, whom all shared their solidarity through exchanges.

The EHF Development Committee mission was explained by Marcos Hofmann (EHF Executive Board member) who explained that to support national growth we needed the input of all members to increase what the EHF is doing for them and how they can support themselves.

The committee built on this message and broke into a series of sub-groups to discuss the subject areas for development that they were keen to enhance. Young People, school hockey, and funding opportunities for programmes collated the biggest feedback. The committee were delighted to hear that more funding has already been put into the EuroHockey Solidarity grant and following feedback from the committee we will look to communicate out on a more regular basis what and how you can apply as a member National Association.

The meeting also allowed the opportunity for 12 Hockey Nations to talk in-depth about their national strategies in sub-groups and the specific priorities and challenges they face and how each other can support through the EHF Twinning programmes between nations.

The EHF Development Committee will meet again in September 2022.

 Ends
